Less sensation, less friction and less confidence during sex after a vaginal birth are, in our experience, what most women mean when they ask about EMfemme 360. BTL's stated purpose for the device in the UK is the treatment of sexual dysfunction after vaginal delivery, by means of improving vaginal laxity. The honest limit is that no published EMfemme 360 study has scored sexual function with a validated scale, and we say so; the one study that names the device measured pain on intercourse and tissue health. At EMfemme 360 London, 8 Devonshire Place, the treatment follows a doctor's examination, with the course in writing at a free consultation.
How laxity and sexual function connect
After a vaginal birth the vaginal walls can stay stretched, with less tone and less friction, and that is what the laxity treatment changes. The 360-degree probe warms the vaginal tissue with radiofrequency to the temperature at which BTL says collagen production is stimulated, over eight minutes. The laxity page sets out what the studies measured, and the external treatment of the labia is on the labial laxity page. Where the loss of sensation has another cause, pain, dryness, a prolapse or a pelvic floor that has weakened, the doctor says so and names the right treatment; Emsella at the same address is the pelvic floor treatment.
What the studies measured
The one study that names EMfemme 360 measured pain on intercourse and tissue scores, not laxity or a sexual function questionnaire: pain was gone in 29 of 35 postmenopausal women after three sessions. A 2026 analysis of other manufacturers' devices found sexual function modestly better than sham in two trials, and the does it work page sets the evidence out.
The session and after
Three sessions, about a week apart in our practice, eight minutes each inside a 30-minute appointment, with a female practitioner if you ask. A watery discharge or mild irritation for a day or two is common, and intercourse waits until the tissue has settled. The review is at six months.
Who it suits
A woman after a vaginal birth with less sensation during sex that she puts down to laxity, at least a few months past the birth, which the doctor confirms. No current infection, no unexplained bleeding, no metal coil, not pregnant or breastfeeding, and cervical screening up to date. The full guide covers the rest.
